The Kasaoka Islands, which lie in the Seto Inland Sea, are made up of 31 islands, large and small, of which seven are inhabited. These include Kitagi Island, where Kitagi stone is actively mined, and Shiroishi Island, a nationally designated place of scenic beauty.
